Manufacturing Month in Wisconsin: Project Spotlight - Summit Packaging

Real Estate Awards

October marks Manufacturing Month in Wisconsin, a perfect occasion to celebrate the immense influence of this industry on our state’s economy and to shed light on the numerous employment opportunities today and in the future. It’s also a reminder of the imperative to fortify our talent pipeline.

Wisconsin Manufacturing month notes the fact that manufacturing is the state’s top industry contributing a remarkable $68 billion annually to the state’s Gross Domestic Product. Furthermore, our state’s approximately 9,200 manufacturing enterprises play a pivotal role in providing employment, with roughly one in every six workers in Wisconsin finding their livelihood in this sector.

VJS Construction Services is honored to be a building partner for several manufacturing companies throughout Wisconsin that are positively impacting the economy. In the past year we have had the opportunity to work with Snap-On Tools, RJ Schinner, and Summit Packaging to expand their footprint.

We want to highlight how Summit Packaging’s expansion generated new job opportunities, significantly impacting both the local community and the broader Wisconsin economy.

Project Highlight

Summit Packaging Systems

In 2022 Summit Packaging Systems, a global leader in the manufacturing of aerosol actuators and valves, embarked on an exciting journey of expansion, breaking ground on a 77,000-square-foot addition to its facility in Racine, Wisconsin. This expansion marks a pivotal chapter in Summit’s remarkable Racine legacy, as they have been part of the local employment landscape since 1987, relocating to their current site in 2010.

In a press release from the Racine County Economic Development Corp. (RCEDC), Mayor Cory Mason of the City of Racine emphasized Summit’s impressive track record of employing local residents. The expansion of the company not only signifies growth but also provides new opportunities for the community to access employment that can sustain families.

The company’s trajectory has evolved the number of team members from 50 to 200 individuals. As they continue to move forward, this growth is expected to create approximately 145 new job opportunities in the City of Racine.

With VJS Construction Services serving as the general contractor and CSD Engineering, Inc. as the architect, the project was completed in winter of 2023. Each year, RCEDC celebrates the outstanding work of the people and businesses that create a tremendous impact on the economy, its communities, and those positively affected by their work. At the 2023 RCEDC Annual Meeting, Summit was recognized as Business Development Project of the Year.
