EQUITY & INCLUSION
We stand behind our statement – we devote talent and creativity to build places that transform life and work. This means we are committed to fostering an inclusive and diverse culture that reflects the communities where we live, work, and build.
We embrace and encourage our employees’ differences in age, color, disability, ethnicity, family or marital status, gender identity or expression, language, national origin, physical and mental ability, political affiliation, race, religion, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, veteran status, and other characteristics that make our employees unique.
VJS understands that DEI is essential for our employees to work at their full potential without barriers. Therefore, we created our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee, a platform for VJS employees to engage and participate in developing and driving VJS’ diversity inclusion initiatives.
This committee is led by Katie Kawczynski (Partner), who received certification in Diversity Equity and Inclusion from the University of Wisconsin - Green Bay, and Maddy Tarbox (Vice President of Marketing), who served as the Vice President of Race Relations for Professional Dimensions for seven years and led the Conversation Circles (unlearning racism and implicit bias) as coordinator and facilitator.
We realize that DEI extends beyond our office and are working to diversify our subcontractor pool, and client base as well as implementing proactive, diverse hiring methods internally and externally on our project sites.
