At VJS, “Building with Purpose” goes beyond the projects we lead. It also shows up in the ways our team gives back, works together, and supports the communities we call home.
Yesterday, VJS team members volunteered with Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity as part of the 2026 Women Build initiative, spending the day framing a new home on Milwaukee’s north side. The hands-on volunteer day brought our team together with other community members to help create safe, affordable housing for a local family.
Supporting Affordable Housing in Milwaukee
Milwaukee Habitat’s Women Build brings women from across the community together to help construct an entire Habitat home from the ground up. The initiative is designed to support affordable homeownership while building strength, leadership, and opportunity through teamwork.
For VJS, this was a meaningful opportunity to put our skills, energy, and values into action. Framing a home is physical, detailed work, but it is also deeply rewarding.
Each wall raised represents more than progress on a jobsite. It represents stability, possibility, and a future place to call home.

Learning, Leading, and Working Together
As builders, we know strong outcomes depend on communication, trust, and a willingness to jump in wherever help is needed. On this build day, those same values helped our team work side by side with other volunteers toward a shared goal.
The experience also created space for connection. Team members had the chance to step outside their usual routines, learn from one another, and contribute to something with lasting impact. It was a reminder that building is not only about structures. It is about people.
