That mindset has shaped over a decade of leadership at VJS and helped make Von one of the people our teams trust with some of our largest and most challenging projects. Now, we are proud to celebrate Von’s award for The Daily Reporter’s 2026 Super Super of the Year recognition.

A Builder at Heart

Von began his career in carpentry, and that hands-on experience still influences how he leads today. He understands what it takes to build the work because he has done it himself. That perspective gives him credibility with craftspeople and trade partners while helping him identify challenges early, keep teams moving, and maintain high standards for quality and safety. Von sees both the big picture and the details. He is thinking months ahead while helping solve the issue in front of the team today.

Making Every Team Better

Von’s influence extends beyond the projects he leads. After completing Lean Last Planner training, he helped bring principles such as collaborative planning, reliable commitments and accountability into everyday field operations at VJS. His ability to combine decades of construction experience with new ideas helps teams communicate more effectively and plan work with greater clarity. That willingness to keep learning is part of what makes Von such a valuable mentor.

Whether he is helping a project team anticipate what comes next, sharing lessons from the field or working through a difficult condition, Von makes the people around him better.
