OUR INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

In an effort to prepare the next generation of builders, VJS encourages students and those interested in becoming a part of the construction industry to join our internship program.

AS AN INTERN, YOU CAN EXPECT:

Training and Development - Our Intern Program covers various topics such as change orders, RFIs, and subcontractor procurement. In addition, interns have access to our Safety Program.

Events - Interns attend social events with their mentors. These activities provide opportunities to connect with other interns, expand their network, and make life-long friends.

Jobsite Tours - Each intern conducts a tour of his/her assigned project for other interns and client executives.

Shop Tours - Interns are invited to attend tours of subcontractor shops to learn how subcontractors prepare for projects.

Community Service Initiative - Interns can participate in company volunteer events at local non-profit organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, Feeding America, and Urban Ecology Center.

Mentors - Interns are paired up with a mentor that is there to help answer questions, provide guidance, and be another resource. Interns receive ongoing feedback and a final evaluation from their mentor and their team. The goal of the internship is to help interns decide if construction is for them!

"In June 2019, I joined VJS Construction Services for my second internship in the construction industry. The difference between the two internships was immense. At VJS, I was given meaningful tasks that had a direct impact on the project. Each person on the team was willing to teach and mentor me, providing me with an excellent overview of each position. This gave me a great perspective as I transitioned from intern to full-time. After my first summer, it was evident that the entire VJS family is willing to help each other, VJS isn’t just individual teams working on projects. They are collectively learning and sharing their experiences to improve every day. I am thankful to be a part of the VJS family.”
