PROJECT SCOPE
The new West Allis Department of Public Works facility is a comprehensive, state-of-the-art campus that supports the city's growing infrastructure needs. The development includes a two-story, 310,150-square-foot main building housing office space, garage parking, vehicle repair bays, and specialized shops. The facility has 17,839 square feet of dedicated office and training space, a 20,301-square-foot building and carpentry facility, nearly 95,000 square feet of vehicle storage, and a 5,531-square-foot drive-thru wash bay. Additional structures include a 33,000-square-foot warm storage building and a 21,300-square-foot cold storage building.
The existing waste transfer station was demolished as part of this project, and the crushed concrete foundations were repurposed as site fill. Extensive site redevelopment includes new parking areas, fencing, gates, utilities, and stormwater infrastructure. The project also benefited from a U.S. EPA soil remediation grant, supporting environmental improvements throughout the site.
