Congratulations to Katie Kawczynski, VJS Lead Architect, and Bailey Copeland, VJS Development Group Director of Real Estate Services, on receiving The Daily Reporter Women in Construction Award.

The Women in Construction Award honors outstanding achievements by the top women in the construction industry and celebrates those who, by achieving success, have also paved the way for other women in construction.

Katie joined VJS in 2014 and leads the team for VJS’ design-build services, providing for single point responsibility and the ease of architectural and construction services under one roof. Katie, along with her team, provides clients with pre-construction services, programming, master planning, budgeting, full architectural services, construction management, and post-construction services for a broad range of building projects.

According to Ryan Bedford, Executive Vice President of Developments for Bedford Development, “Katie brings confidence and a remarkable ability to provide quick solutions to design roadblocks on our various projects. She does so with expediency and accuracy to help maintain project schedule while always being cognizant of budget constraints.”

Katie is a member of the American Institute of Architects, National Council of Architectural Registration Boards, and American Society of Interior Designers.

Bailey Copeland has been with VJS Development Group for over 14 years. She has gained extensive commercial real estate experience in the areas of development, development management, leasing, sales, acquisitions, entitlements, property management and marketing. She is skilled at development management, land assemblage, contract negotiation, leasing, portfolio management, budget preparation and construction project management. Bailey is proficient in managing the entire real estate development process from site identification and due diligence to construction through completion.

Bailey is an active member of NAIOP, the Commercial Real Estate Association, Board of Directors and Chair of Programs Committee, the Commercial Association of Realtors, the National Association of Realtors, CCIM (Commercial Real Estate Leaders), ICSC (International Council of Shopping Centers), and is Treasurer of the Executive Board for REACH (Real Estate Alliance for Charity).
