Lean Construction

The Lean construction process is a key component to our project approach, enabling the team to focus on efficient workflow, eliminating waste, and over burdening of resources by looking at the project as a whole versus simply the sum of its components. This enhances communication and trust while building accountability among all team members including subcontractors; resulting in safer, faster, more efficient, high quality, lower cost projects.

Daily Huddle – The huddle is intended to be a brief (15 minute or less) meeting between trade partners and VJS, at which each, in turn, shares what commitments they have completed, what commitments they need help with or cannot deliver. The huddle is important in all phases of the project and is done between the front line supervisors of construction crews.

VJS has 10 LEED® Accredited Professionals on staff.  Our team will work with you to establish a sustainability strategy that encompasses your project goals by analyzing building materials and systems for the short term and the long term. Technology

Our approach toward the implementation and use of digital technology has enabled us to be at the forefront of today’s ever changing and competitive marketplace. Floor plans, 3D renderings, and Building Information Modeling (BIM) are often used to convey an idea for a particular space within a design, but even these approaches – a staple of architectural design – can fail to effectively communicate ideas with clients.

The use of Building Information Modeling (BIM) has transformed the construction industry. The ability to create a virtual model of the building allows us to improve our ability to interpret and communicate the design with the owner, architect, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, and building officials. The end result is to improve productivity during design and construction that saves our clients time and money.

VJS utilizes Revit, AutoCad, and Procore. Procore is a cloud-based construction software that allows web access/collaboration for real-time project communication with project team members and subcontractors and helps to shorten decision cycles. 

Drone data is a natural tool for virtual design and construction (VDC), and has transformed the profession. With access to high-resolution aerial maps and 3D models, busy teams can visualize job sites in new ways, keep pace with the many moving parts of complex projects, and seamlessly integrate drone data into everyday workflows. Drones offer a streamlined way for virtual design and construction to gather high-resolution data and put that data to work in site planning and design, site survey, earthwork management, and BIM workflows.

Virtual reality (VR) technology has furthered the potential for architects and designers. From initial design mock-ups to project collaboration to the finishing touches that make a building design more compelling, virtual reality possesses the capability to really sell an idea better than any other medium. As an immersive technology, it will transport users into a fully interactive 3D environment, giving them the opportunity to explore a virtual representation of a particular room, floor, or building design as a whole.
